Hi guys I'm trying to find out some info on remapping an e36 M3 3ltr I have.

Firstly is it possible? and secondly is it worth it? or did the M devision get the very best out of the 3ltr lump and it would just over stress it? If it is possible what sort of gains would I likely get? and finely what sort of money would this cost me?

    Thanks in advance

I can make you a chip for it, and you should end up with 300bhp+

For £75, you'll receive a chip that you can fit yourself which adjusts the ignition timing and fueling of your engine, the RPM limiter can be moved too if you like.
There are no bad points, apart from it being less tolerant of 95 octane, but at the same time, it will run safely on lower octanes just with less power.
As you have a 1994, you should be free of EWS so there is no need for me to read your original ECU chip beforehand.

Is it like a generic map then that I will get and would a mapping session on a roling road be more effective, having said that If the I will see power upped to over 300bhp then the price does sound very reasonable. Would this absoloutely ruin the MPG? The only other mod to the car is a Scorpion cat back exhaust which I know does bugger all on the bhp stakes.

I would rather not raise the rev limit as I have heard the 3ltrs have a tendancy to spin shells at high rpm and I am yet to fit ARP rod bolts so 7k or what ever it is is fine.

How would I go about paying for the chip?- I take it paypal is ok? and what would the turn around time be?

It's a map I've been working on for a few years now, fitted to a few race and rally cars already.
To have it done on a rolling road would increase the price by a huge amount, ie £350-450 and it's unlikely you'd see too much of an improvement for your money.

The 3.0 isn't too bad for bearing shells, they tend to do that from oil starvation, unlike the 3.2 which will do it from the higher revs.
They can start to knock at the small end/wrist pin which has been noted a few times on this engine.
I can't be certain of the exact cause of that, as many people bin the engine once they hear any noise, but a few people on e36coupe have been discussing it recently.

Payment can be done via paypal, you'd get a chip posted out on Monday and it should be with you on Tuesday.

That's how you'd fit it, it is a twin board type ECU.
