hi people ,so after reading a few posts on the e36 tds 2.5 i discovered that i am not the only 1 to want more from my power plant .i have had a full stainless exhaust fitted so there is no cat or filters just a sports back box.i then got it mapped and put on the rolling road she now has 185 bhp which i have heard is good for this engine but as always i want more lol .but i need some help first ,i have heard of guys fitting bigger intercoolers why,i mean if its a case of bigger is better how big can i go ,i thought every intercooler was a certain size and matched to each engine for best results . Also i seen a video of a guy who had a boost controller and gauge will this help increase power . there is also a guy i no who has mentioned a dump valve for these cars for £150 is this good will it work. And last but not least turbo's is there and upgrade or a bigger turbo that can be fitted. but then at the end of the day can this motor which started with 143bhp handle all this extra power . sorry for the all the questions but a dont no where to start . thanks for any help in advance

I know little about tuning the TDS 325 but Doug1234 may know if you can get hold of him on here.

your not the only one to want more have a look there's a few around on here, getting it chipped/mapped is the first thing that needs to be done which you have done, on your car you can do an egr valve bypass assuming its a 1994 as your profile says, can either buy a blank of body or d.i.y your valve by cutting it all out, putting a screw in the vac pipe that opens the valve and blocking the egr pipe coming from exhaust manifold this will produce noticable results especially low down, make sure you clean the intake manifold after youll be suprised at the amount of shite in there, intercoolers add little power they help cool the air, these engines have problems with heat and heads cracking its more of a preventitive measure than anything, but too big an intercooler will causes charge drop, a slightly bigger one is fine, a bov/dump valve is a waste of time on a diesel as they dont have a throttle body the intake is always wide open, you can fit a manual boost controller on the vac pipe that goes from compressor to wastegate actuator, i run mine between 1.3/1.5 bar boost which it copes fine with, adds a great wallop more tourque and improved mpg, make sure you fit a boost gauge so you can observe the boost your running. keep an eye on your engine/gearbox mounts as all the extra tourque puts a hell of alot of stress on them, http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...roject-t78142/ thats the link to my tds project thread have a look through it these engines can handle big power, just need to keep the temp down, run a wetter coolant mix it seemed to improve my cooling efficiency greatly

yeah ive thought about it, but even though ive done quite abit to my car it does 50mpg on a motorway trip, starts first time every time and never lets me down so i 'might' leave it alone for abit..... ive heard the td05 of an imprezza is a good cost effective upgrade but havent looked into it to much to be honest, a grand seems high for a turbo upgrade on this engine.....the 1 problem with these tds's is the lack of info and tuning info on them, most of the things i done have been trial and error

yeah ano what u mean mate a went looking for a workshop manual for this car and was shocked to find there is not one. I agree i think a grand is a bit much , it was the who mapped my car who said about the guy in ireland and that it came with 12month warranty for £700 hundred but he would have to remap the car to suit the new turbo so thats the extra £300 . i have never heard of the imprezza turbo but i was reading on here a bit and there was a guy who has friends who run e39 530d turbos so a would be interested to see how that has been working out
