Hi, Ive heard that blocking the EGR valve on a 325 tds (M51) increases fuel consumption but would it damage the engine in any way?

    THANKS Jim

You should be OK on your engine, on later models the EGR is used to keep engine combustion temperatures down, which otherwise can contribute to premature turbo failure.
