get a pannle air filter ,the air box is designed to provide optimum levels of both power and torque. ive had a piper cross kit with the heat sheild (home made) on mine and it sounded good .i changed it for a k&n pannel filter and put the old air box back. it doesnt have the same sound ,but is alot smoother and when it went on the rolling road its performance was out standing.

i would like to see a dyno test done between the 2 though !

the cheap ebay kits mate will provide a nice noise and make you think your going faster, but give it a few thousand miles and itle loose its effiency ,they get dirty mate, the k&n being pre oiled is better and doesnt suffer any performance loss for the first 50k then you just wash it and its fine again.
allso consider heat soak. youl end up making things worse with no heat sheild !

no problem , just remeber companys that can nock out ebay kits for £30 dont spend millions on research and development like the manufactures do ,the only after market air filters ive used and really rate are k&n .gotta be k&n every time for me mate.

£98.00 for the cheap kit and you can get them of e-bay, this is a metal mesh filter which in its self moves more air than k & N and all the rest and still provides quicker pick up and top end power and better mpg if used normally
