Hi all i have around £600 burning a hole in my pocket which needs to be spent before the wife and kids get their hands on it

I was wondering about some thought of aftermarket air filter kit (like the K&N ) but i am also wondering if this mod would do me more harm than good as my car is an automatic and have been told it would drink the petrol along with it sucking in warm air which in turn would make it run poor.

any thoughts on this would be good
    cheers

With all that work to the exhaust it makes sense to allow it to breath better, and a decent air filter will do this.
If it was me id buy a big filter and get it remapped, theres half gone.

You've made a good start then! The mtec kit is a good idea. I got en entire kit (in colour) for around £200 and fitting it is easy.

Open filters suck in warm air (a.k.a. heat soak). K&Ns 57i kit is a bad example. It's basically just a noise maker. Good examples would be the Dave F (which uses a heat shield), or a Simota/Gruppe M which is enclosed.

Alternaively how much would a manual conversion cost?

I run my 320 with a BMC CDA. Nice & quiet till you ask it to wake up. Slight dip on low down torque but certainly makes up for it after 4k. No heat soak either!

I found the front bumper on eBay and the rear bumper and side skirts from a guy on e36coupe.com. Obviously if you want it spraying then it'll cost more, but I was happy with the colour match.

I wouldn't let my missus drive my car! You're a brave man!
