    Been on the case today matey
    Just comparing part numbers between the petrol and the diesel shifters.
    I promise ill let you know how i get on, im just really puzzled by this as ive never had a prob before.

    That should do the job i think. Ive used the Z3M shifter before and it made the shift very very short. I now use one from a 1.9 as its just right for everyday use.
    You should be able to just fit the lever itself from that ebay link, it means you dont have to remove that big linkage bracket. You will just need a new plastic bush from BMW because they seem to break when they are removed. I think they are only abou £4.

    Cool. Just get a new plastic bush and only fit the lever. Ive found out all genuine bmw shifters should fit the 3 series. I cant work out why the other one had problems.

    Well got the shift this morning my dad went to bmw to get bush, but thats still touching the prop shaft, might just leave it as it is, spending more money, that could be going in the tank
