It's not so much the throttle bodies it's the management around them too.

you need a stand allone ecu to control the fuel and spark your prob looking about a grand for everything u need from say emerald or omex, u can sort one from megasquirt for 400 but you will need to do alot of learning to make it work and need a basic knoledge of electrics and fuleing.
iv been tild m3 tbs have different port spacing so wont work

A grand seems no where near what it would cost! Omex 600 ecu has got to be half that alone then you need the loom made up for it thats before you think about the bodies!!

Thanks for the replies very helpful, I'll probably go down the route of getting a larger bore throttle body after I get the other bits done, but the other question is will I need to really look at one as I read up (can't remember where) that there is barely any point as the engine can't move enough air to justify getting a bored out throttle body?

yes euro s50 throttles can be made to work with an adaptor plate. You can also use s54 with adaptor plates and a bit of fiddling to make them cable driven.
No you are not going to get it done for $1000
Look up dbilas. this would probably be the best option for you both. It is expensive and you will not see much of a performance gain

iv'e occasionally looked at supercharger kits
(not that i can afford one :P)
but for the amount you pay you would get a hell of a lot more power.
im guessing thats what you want ^^
