hi. im also inerested in gutting out the cats. i drove few 325i similar year non-vanos and my 325i has different noise than the others. then u push accelerator it sounds more like a plane than a car , and i havent noticed any damage on exhaust and its all stock. MOT went well. so im wondering if it might do something with cats? acceleration of my car also isnt as good as others i tried (engine is good arround 12 compression ratio). i didnt change stock air filter either since i bought it, might it be the case?

I would go for it. Im think i might get de cats, well i mean get a friend weld a straigh section where the cats are, the cats are pretty rough but the pipes are good. Shouldnt make a massive difference to sound i would of thought, just make it a bit less restrictive.

Booked in for the 5th december. They are going to weld 2 new sections in stainless. Its not cheap, but these guys work is top quality...

They said it will sound slightly louder and more raspy but will give a noticable increase in torque.....

Lets us know what it goes like afterwards, it be intresting to see the difference. Should really do this to the rally car, but scrutterners frown on anything over 90db.
