    Yes, removing the cats from your engine will SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the smell of burning hair whilst driving.

    Go for the decat Steve-If its done well it shouldn't be that much louder after all its more the silencer that would silence the noise rather than the cats isnt it?

    Cat test is for cars built after 1st August 1992....

    Hope you dont mind me asking when you say 80-100 what do they do just chop of the cat and weld up a str piece of pipe by the way i have heard some de-cats like my mates old mx6 sounded lovely and still had the standerd back box

    Thats it. They cut them out and weld in some stainless pipe..
    I just dont trust my welding enough to do it myself...

    My 323i 1997 started for about 10 secs and then died and now will not start ....any ideas , tried jumping it , bumping it now I just want to kick it...any ideas , my local mechanic immediatlety said cam belt , but he is wrong on that as they use cam chains ....so any hints would be helpful
