yeahhhh im looking into getting a decent filter and piping, and a heat shield.. ive also been looking at Vortex Electronic Superchargers!?!?? £150.. ment to give you small gain.. my mate has one and he changed the motor for a more powerfull one and it seems alright.. so im thinking of buying one for a laugh and putting a heavy duty electric drill motor on it haha

and yeah ive got a full custom exhaust already.. its loud.. very loud.. but i love it!

also been looking at chips.. seem cheap and seems like an alright gain.. higher rev limit and top speed limiter removed.. for £27 on ebay! ha

That "Chip" will be a resitor that normally cost 10p. Do not do it!

    Forget the "Vortex Supercharger".

I wouldnt even bother with a aftermarket air filter. Just derestrict the airbox and fit a cat-back exhaust.

stay well away from the vortex with there being a fan in the intake side there is a possibality that it could come loose and get sucked in which is never good!

as for the chip as said above it will be a resistor that cost 10p from maplins!

you are better off spending a little extra and getting a remap you wont see much gaines but there will be an improvment.

but thinking about it you mite aswell put that money towards the 328 engine

Have a word with forum vendor TheEnd. He maybe able to sort you out with a chip. Got to be the best return per pound mod there is.

Don't go for an electric charger, actual supercharges actually lower your mpg from the power they drain away to run them, I'm not sure of the figures but it is quite a few HP they take away to produce the boost needed to make a difference.

That means unless they have a 5hp electric motor, they will only just get in the way.

Ebay chips are a bit of a mystery, some people have had good results, but the quality of them can vary a lot, they may be copies, they made be only lightly tuned, and feedback on ebay isn't much use as people leave it 10 mins after fitting the chip, and can't take it back if they get problems

The top speed limiter isn't something to be worried about, currently the gearing stops the car at 138mph as it hits the redline in 5th.
Even with the revlimit raised to 7000, you'd hit the redline before 150mph, and you'd need to be going downhill with a strong tailwind to reach that sort of speed, ie you'd need 200+bhp to get close.

If you are interested in a chip, have a look at my forum section near the bottom of the main page, and there is a thread about chips, and how to order one.

Correct me if i'm wrong here but is your car RED? If so I think I met you at Jason's place. Anyway if this is your car I'm talking about, I went out in it with Jason & I gotta say I don't think I have been in a faster 318is than yours

thanks for the help guys!! yeah ive had some people tell me the ebay chips are great, and some have said they dont do anything at all...

il take a look shortly TheEnd.. im very interested!! my cars already got a manifold back system with decat.. what do you mean by a de-restricted air box??

theres a company that does remaps literally a mile down the road from me, called M-Tech (weirdly not a bmw specialist).. was thinking of popping down there.. buuuut the few hundred it would cost me for a remap, like said aboive.. i could put towards my engine swap..

but i was looking a the list of stuff that i need to do the conversion.. and * me its alot!
