hi, ive been researching this subject for a while now and i cant seem to get any good answers.

i want to know if anyone has detailed photographs

also answers to thing like, wiring loom, propshaft, rear axle.

will there need to be any body fabrication?

thanks in advance

note: please dont just tell me its hard and expensive! moneys not an issue.

Yes it's do-able (but anything is - doesn't mean it's a good idea...).

There are plenty of M62 conversions about for the E30, just google it for pictures.

You'd need the complete loom and ECU ect, engine mounts fabricated, chassis strengthening, maybe a custom prop and exhaust.

A wiser conversion would be a pre-vanos V8 (early E39 535's and 540 or a V8 from an E34).

...and if money's not an issue - why don't you just get the work done? There's plenty of garages that specialise in engine conversions. This just seems to be a 'dreamer' question - which will probably be why people aren't bothering to give good answers.

trust me not a dream im going to start posting photos, ive just removed the engine and it going into a body shop in a few week to get rid of the rust and have full re-spray! :)
the idea is to do it myself, i wanted it to be a project.
thanks for the heads up on strengthening the chassis, i read that the power of the engine and weight will pull the car apart so that'll need to be done before, on second thought ill pospone the body work till a later date would make sense to get everything in first engine prop etc... before!

i was hoping that someone that has done it them selfs could post some more detailed photos than you get on google.

this is genuine ill post some photos later tonight or tomorow.

mate
the only ones i have seen that have done this, have not posted alot of details for reason i am sure you understand, there a german company that does conversation i think its called 300mm but not sure, i do have the info and will have a look for you, if you do do it, that will be fook off fast, i should know:hihi

what i can confirm is that your engine use evo running gear so no problem with fitment on that side, i would use an m3 diff and as it uses the evo gearbox on the m5 you should be ok with an evo m3 prop, and if i am right you could also use the engine mounts from a alpina b8 and also the sump and oil pick up as am pretty sure the bottom end on the m5 lump is based on the 4.4

good luck mate

The E39 sump and cross member is different to the E34 sump and cross member, so a 4.4 sump from a E34 if it fits the engine would clear the cross member, otherwise you need a custom sump.

There is someone with a E39 M5 power E30 on another site that sounds like BdirtyBone if you get my jist. :thumbsup

yeah i had concidered putting the 4.4 v8 with a m5 6sp gearbox, but being my typical self! had to go one step further.

thanks for the info on props, mounts etc...

im all good with the fabricating side but its the wiring which is my main worry! im no good with that sort of thing!

ill have the strengthening plates in this weekend.
