Hi new here but joined to get good solid information on how to tune my car.

It's a 06 118d. (122bhp) my friend has remapped his focus St and he said it was as easy as plugging a box in and away you go.

Is there a remap box I can buy that I can plug in and gain bhp.

Hopefully some of you guys have already done this and can advise me in where to look.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

You should contact the forum vendors, which are located on the forum homepage.

You can get Diesel tuning boxes, you can also get a Superchip Bluefin, which is a "plug-in" remap box...which you take back out after...

Bluefin's aren't cheap, you realistically pay for the priviledge of owning a device which you most likely will use once, and only works on your car and no one elses, (for obvious reasons) However it does allow you to take the remap off I believe (correct me if i'm wrong)

Whereas a remap by a vendor is cheaper and they're more than helpful!

Diesel tuning boxes are "ok", my personal experience makes me avoid them, as they caused havok with my brothers ford focus 1.8tdci, kept sending the car into limp mode...

For diesel tuning boxes google Tunit, although there are others available if you search the forum.

For a Bluefin, look for superchips bluefin,

    Kr,
Done: M Sport Kit, Angel Eyes, Tinted Rear LED Lamps, Remap, Exhaust, 130i front discs and calipers, VMR VB3 alloys, Eibach Pro-kit springs, Thermostat, Aux water pump, Rear View mirror replaced
On the to do list: iPod Integration, ICE, replace passenger side door mirror, change passenger seat heating element ... Maybe sell the car

I agree with all of the above.
The "plug-in" remap costs the same as a remap + a fancy bit of kit to carry out the changes.
You should get a decent change in performance though, approx 35bhp+, 70-ish Nm of torque.

As above.. We cant help with a self flashing tool.. I know there a few good ones out there for the ST.. But There a good way to do it your self but from what I have seen from the tuning there not that good

Cost for the 118d's are £250 with 14 days money back and a try before you buy.. !

    Thanks Mike
