First post - so be gentle! The car is a 2004 330Ci Convertible...

Post a visit to a car valet, I have experienced several odd occrances with the mirrors/windows of the car:
The electric mirrors do not function/adjust
The fold-away mirror switch does not work
The one-touch power-up for the front windows does not work
The passenger-side mirror DOES tilt when the car reverses

I have checked fuses 31 and 57; fues 57 is fine, but there is no fuse in 31. Is this correct?

Day one after the incident, I assumed there was an ingress of water, so dropped the top off the car and about an hour later in an attempt to 'dry' the car out, everything started to work again. Job done - I thought - but next day the mirrors would not adjust. Following weekend, repeat taking the roof down process, this time the only 'improvement' was that the passenger side mirror tilts when reversing, but I cannot switch this off. Tried to use a hairdryer to 'remove' any condensation around the mirror switches. All to no avail.

Also, I have checked fuses 31 and 57; but there is only a fuse in 57. Is this correct?

Any ideas? Is the only option to take it to a main dealer to run diagnostics? I got a quote that diagnostics alone would be 84+VAT; althought they 'guarenteed' to find the fault.

    Hi,

I have just bought a 2004 320ci sport convertible and within a day of purchase mine has started doing the same except both mirrors have a mind of their own and move around as I'm driving! When I bought the car the garage apologised as someone had left the window open slightly whilst it was being jet washed so this may something to do with it?

Looking around the forums it looks like it may be something to do with a faulty connection on the drivers side mirror but the one touch power up-front window stopped working about a day after the mirrors went hay wire so I'm not sure if that's related?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have just bought a 2004 330cd and my mirrors don't work at all either, however the passenger mirror tilts in reverse and I have no way of switching it off, either moving the switch left or right doesn't help,it seems to be happening to quite a few cars but no one has ever posted a fix for it?
Does everyone just live with it.

Mine has no fuse in 31 either, also there is no contacts in there where the fuse would connect to,I have tried another swith in but no difference,it is really annoying me because the mirror points to the ground when In reverse.

If theres no contacts in the fuse box for a fuse, then chances are there has never been one - If there are contacts, then the fuse has been taken out and not replaced !

As for your mirror pointing to the ground, do you mean your passenger mirror ?
This is normal behaviour, it's to aid you seeing the kerb while reversing.

If you flick the mirror switch to the drivers side, it should stop doing it !

flicking the switch should stop it doing it,but with the mirrors not working i cannot stop it,its supposed to be adjustable but this one points straight down to the floor,i find it really annoying when trying to reverse into tight spots etc.

So what your saying is that your mirrors are pointing to the ground all the time, and you can't adjust them with the switch ?

If thats the case, use your hands, and move the glass yourself.

No it points to the floor when you put it in reverse,I don't want it to do that, but I can't stop it because my mirrors don't work by the switch

    Fixed
Turned out to be the ribbon corroded and broken where it goes through the door,
I just soldered some wire across the break and hey presto everything works like new
