went on holiday recently , the wife lowered the front passenger window and when it went about half way down it made a judder and looked as though it was going to stop ?? It didnt look too good i must say, i hit the button and managed to my relief to get the window fully up, now im afraid to open it as it might be stuck down in the future ?? any ideas please on to what could be causing the non smooth running of window eekeek:eek
Does it sound like the motor is encountering resistance, can you hear it straining to move the window as it moves? Or does it simply seem to drop down in steps and not a smooth slide?
The window glass sits on a little rail that moves it up and down, it is held to the rail with two clamps if you will, one at each end of the glass. If one of these is loose as the window slides down the resistance of the seals around the glass could hold it up slightly and cause it to drop in small steps instead of a smooth slide. Fairly easy to check it just means removing the door trim panel. My DIY here will help you get the door panel off and show what kind of thing to look for. I did this on my coupe so it may not be exactly the same as your car but it will be close enough to figure it out easily.
it does seem like its not a smooth slide, the motor seems fine, i will now have a read of your guide and at the weekend take door panel off, will keep you posted
A simple fix can be to spray some Silicone rubber lubricating spray into the rubber runners for the glass. Got some from Halfords and used it on the wifes car.
