Hi all, have done a search for this but cant find anything, i have a 2001 bmw 320ci petrol and i went to change the air filter and in the bottom of the air filter housing there is quite a bit of oil, is this normal? Should i be worried and if so any ideas would be appreciated
Cheers
Dan
No, that isn't normal. does the oil look fresn or used? if it looks fresh it may just be spillage from topping up. if its used then its come from the engine which wont be good. whats the oil level like? is it using excessive amounts? mop it up and check it again after a run
Thanks for the reply, mopped up the oil so will keep an eye to see if it comes back, i think it may have been from when i topped up the coolant recently, and recently had a service so hoping it was one of those, will post again when i check it
have you got standard filter if not i think some filters have oil in them.
