    Hi,

New to the forum and hoping to get some issues fixed. Firstly, I have a 1995 bmw 316i compact automatic. I am having rough idling issues EG: cold start stuttering, bouncing revs, fuel smell (but no heavy white smoke from exhaust) when the bonnet is up the engine shakes slightly and the revs are up and down before settling after a few minutes. The things that have been done are:

    Spark plug change
    air filter change
    oil/filter change
    coolant/water change
    coolant flange change
    breather hose and filter change
All other hoses look fine and engine temp always stays just below half.

Not looking at throwing any more parts at it now and need a diagnostic tool to finally do the job for me. However i cannot find a compatable OBD tool for cars 1995 or older as i have OBD1 and not OBD11. I have tried OBD11 with a 20 pin adaptor plugged into the engine, The tool comes on and scans but keeps comming up "no codes" "reset failed" eveything else N/A. I cannot get rid of the problem. Is there a scanner for my car, the mechanics are looking at stripping the whole engine. LOL. Any help appreceiated. Thanks.
