I'm in the process of resorting the above to a show condition, I have an issue with the drivers door lock, it will unlock by the key but not lock, also the boot lock does not work by key atall, I can use the alarm key fob but id like to get it right, my questions are:

Is it some thing that is repairable or does the whole barrel or lock need to be changed? if so what sort of job is it? I would like to change the handle seal too its looking old.

Lastly if I do buy a new lock - barrel from BMW- could it be supplied to my existing key code? (a question for the dealer I suppose?)

    Thanks

Had the same issue with the door key lock.
At the time I had to use the key as remote was lost. It would sometimes not lock or unlock. Felt very hard to turn.
I used 3 in 1 oil and it cured the issue. Further more I ordered a new remote fob and done away with having to use the key anyway. It felt strange to use key but there you go.
Your boot issue sounds like it's been replaced with a salvage unit thus making your key obsolete the the key mechinism.

It had occurred to me that the boot lock may have been changed, ill give the oil a go first on the door lock, but there isn't any movement at all when you try lock, the parts to replace are not too expensive and BMW say that my key will work, Id like to know what sort of job to change they are?
