Halfords recognise my 302 Maderia Violet paint code as Madeira Schwarz - which I am pretty sure is a different colour (but super rare). Has anyone else had this problem - where did you get a spray can made up??? Heard that BMW charge a lot for a tiny can.....

What do you want the spray for? You have to be really careful with that colour (same as mine) I had a repair done on my door a few months back, sh*t match as the painter used sh*t paint. Had the door redone, even with a reputable body repairer it was still a nightmare for even them to match.

You are better offgoing to a proper paint supplier who will match the paint a lot better than Halfords ever will, but just remember our colour is classed as a pearlescent, so will always be a complete ball ache to get a good match!

Didn't realise it was a pearlescent.

I want to spray my scrap yard sourced ACSchnitzer type 1 splitter - its quite small and will get chipped so I dont want to pay to have it done. I reckon due to the angle difference to the bumper you wouldn't notice a shade of colour difference.

Thanks for the reply..........

Madeira Schwarz and Madeira Violet are, as far as i'm aware, the the same colour mate. It was called Schwarz up to 1994, and Violet in later years. God knows why BMW changed the name, but they did. My code on the strut is Madeira Schwarz 302, which is the same number as yourself...:thumbsup

Paints 4u do a very good spray, colour match is just as good as BMW sprays, just much cheaper.

Also, heres some random trivia - there were only 2,994 Madeira(302) e36's registered in the UK. Anyone else?:lol

that means guys we all have collectors...under 3000 in uk and how many have been scraped / written off...that would be an interesting find!!!

in my area im the only one with that colour:cool

Yeah only one I have seen in Thatcham / Newbury / Reading too.

I do like the colour when clean, after a few days of driving it tends to look a little dirty though! Some colours can wear grime much better.

Would be interesting to know how many Madeira's have survived.....

Think you will struggle to be honest mate. Keep an eye out on ebay is your best bet - there is a madeira violet being broken at the moment.

If you come across a car without a spoiler could you give me a shout as I want to go spoilerless :)
