Hi all

I have took the car out for a run in the rain today and everytime i went through a large puddle and sprayed water up under the car i got the battery light on my dash and also a slight squeal from the alternator belt. I am guessing i will need to fit a new belt and tensioner to solve this issue how easy is the belt and Tensioner to fit or will i just need a new belt? or can i adjust it slightly to solve this problem?

Oh the car is a 1994 E36 325i

Thanks
Cj

Hi Cj
I added the vehicle details to the thread title for you..;)
The belt is fairly simple to remove. Above the alternator is the sping loaded tensioner. If you pull that away from the belt with a spanner you will be able to remove the belt. Make sure you draw a diagram of the belt route before you remove it. :D
I replaced the tensioner roller and guide pully on my 325 when i did the belt. The bearings in the rollers get worn.:frown
IIRC the parts cost me around £50 from BMW. :thumbsup
