    2.replace the pulley
    3.replace the tensioner and wheel
far game did that cost me 95quid so far (i do my own work)

If the noise is coming fron the alternator area then it could be the alternator bearing alyhough these normally have a rattling sound rather than a squeal.Try slipping the belt off and spinning the alernator pulley by hand to see if the noise can be heard also check for play in the pulley, also even new belts can squeal a bit sometimes try getting a thick wax crayon and CAREFULLY! while the engine is running lightly touch it on the ribbed side of the belt,if it is a squeaky/contaminated belt the noise will disappear.

thanks for the advise andy yeh took it off before and span it while holding it in my hand horrible grinding very low pitch but i could imagine this at varible speed at it would be noisey like it has been so removed it.took the nesasery parts off so didint cut any more knuckles lol.
fan housing off, fan, pulley, belt tensioner plus marked it so it would fit correct way again direction.
the more i replace stuff the faster im getting im a mechanic in qualifations and 3yrs in the job yrs ago so its all straight forward.
