Hi guys
Recently I noticed a whining noise coming from the rear of the car (exactly where the fuel pump is placed). At the same time the car was juddering like loosing power.
Took it to a local Indy and he diagnosed 4 out of the 6 injectors had failed (oh dear). The car has only covered 93k and iv always used good fuel.
Anyway...managed to source 6 injectors from a breaker. Coded them! at start up the car would idle like it was missing revs jumping through the range and then cut off. Happened a few times. Managed to keep it alive and take it for a run as suggested by the Indy to clear excess diesal. The whining noise has gone, the car is extremely lumpy as you apply throttle.
Any ideas don't really wana splash out £1k for new injectors.

Thanks

Or find a decent indy!

As the others have said - the car wouldn't run with 4 failed injectors. The injectors cant be responsible for the noise you spoke of, all they are - are like valves letting fuel into each cylinder. It has to be something like the fuel lift pump in the fuel tank, or a blocked fuel filter. A decent garage that works on diesel cars will have the kit to check the fuel pressures, and fuel delivery rates.

I would avoid the dealers if you can - unless you have deep pockets!! Mind you, they will have all the right diagnostic kit!
