CASTROL EDGE 5W30 ENGINE OIL
That is the recommended oil for your car. The best place is eBay at the moment and you need 8lt so 2x4lt bottles

But I would search CASTROL EDGE 5W30 ENGINE OIL on eBay as there is one or two sellers doing the 2 bottle deal and it's cheaper .
Just remember to use a engine flush before you drop the oil

I buy it 20 litres at a time for £76 from this guy
Digby I thought the 3.0 M57ND30 was 7.75 litres oil, I know my 2.5 litre version is 8.5

just checked my owners manual - says 8.25 litres......
Also says LL-01 quality ????

They even say you can top up with LL-98 is all no other oil is available, I think I will just stick to my Dexos 2 and 10k oil changes, that way I know I am putting good oil in but by changing so often it is very unlikely to break down.
I suspect I would use Castrol Edge if I was going to stick the BMW service CBS servicing but can't help feel that the carbon build up in the oil which can't be avoided in no good for the engine over such an extended period. Because I do so many motorway miles my car is suggesting 20k between services.
I just changed the oil in my wifes car at 10k which is a DERV and does little trips and the oil was more like black paint

I use 5w30 LL-04 and change according to CBS
there again my car does mainly long motorway trips

Europarts are doing Castrol Edge 5W30 for £26.99 for 4 litres at the moment. Why compromise with anything else?

dexos 2 meets or exceeds the bmw ll04 requirements and its usually cheaper than castrol ,saying that i used castrol edge only last week in mine
