    Help / inspiration please

Having an interesting challenge with my 2004 E61 530D. Central locking and radio stopped working, again, this morning. Worked out that it was the 5 amp fuse in the rear. Changed that, all well. Closed the hatchback and blow me, central locking wouldn't work. Sure enough, tested fuse, blown again.

So, my theory has to be that I have water ingress (I have been driving in puring rain this week) and that when I close the rear, water shorts out the fuse.

Has anyone else had this problem?

    Any other ideas?

    Many thanks, in advance.

Have a look under all the boot carpets as there is a few bits and pieces round there of expensive kit and modules.

Maybe the E60 is going to start with the boot lid wiring loom issues that E36s have.
Have a look at the wires going into the boot lid and check that none have rubbed themselves raw and a shorting inside.

TheEnd - The E60's as the E39's, as the E36's have started this chaffing stunt in the rubber conduit. I have seen it mainly on saloons, not yet seen it on Tourings.
OP I'd check the floors as TheEnd suggests, then the rubber loom between the tailgate and roofline.

Look at this for an indication of how bad it can get.
