Hi what year is your vehicle

    N47 was around 2007 to 2012-2013
Also picture is not very clear.

As long as their is regular maintenance and not thrashing it should be ok.

Also what you have yo realise is not all vehicles will be affected, it will be a minority, especially those around 2007-2008 and 2009 as far as my research as has led me to believe.

Again this is a vehicle that is owned by millions of people world wide.

I believe the engine in your car is the N47.

Go to realoem.com and enter the last seven digits of your VIN for parts details etc.

The N47 engine was introduced in cars made from March 2007 onwards:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_N47

Your car, although registered in March 2007, will have been made beforehand, which means your engine is an M47:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M47

I have found realoem accurate, and especially useful when getting part numbers.

Ive got a July 2007 M47 car and was made in June lol! The N47 is there any specific thing to look for reference chains i.e history etc as I quite fancy a newer model.

Make sure the swirl flaps on the intake are deleted... these can otherwise disintegrate and enter the intake side of the engine. Removing them is common procedure which may already have been undertaken.

If you dont have a DPF that is good too (usually you can tell if tailpipe is turned down - no DPF - but this is apparently not a surefire way to tell).

Otherwise just enjoy the noisy tractor sound (i used to have an m47 318d )
