I have a droning sound when accelerating, you can hear it quiet clearly, but it's not loud enough to hear if recorded while driving

This sound on happens in 6th gear and no others, it also only happens around between 68-75mph, sounds odd but it goes away after I hit around 75 and it's not there under 68

Recently had the car remap, it has also had the dpf removed, not sure that helps, but car does tend to wheel spin a lot, I've had a warning on dash when turn electrics on twice before but it never stays so I know a problem there

Not sure if anyone can help or not or if there is a problem at all?

Sounds a bit like a wheel bearing

I would say wheel bearing but only in 6th gear and disappearing after a certain speed seems weird. Usually wheel bearing problems are speed dependent not gear dependent.

Have you run an OBD scan>?

Haven't done an obd scan, not sure what that is or how to do one?

I have ordered a diagnostic plug in as have some warning lights that come up every now and then, to check the engine and transmission, hoping this will come back with something

Quiet saddened that this car has a few problems, first BMW I had I loved and all was good, think this one hasn't been treated as well

How much torque did you have after the remap? Could be the drive train taking a pummelling from too much torque..

Was an increase of 100nm from 500-600, that's what website says, haven't got the graph on me and a 40bhp increase

Would that only affect one gear though and between certain mph?
I never hear it when pulling away and climbing up to 68mph and don't hear it when accelerating from 80+
I've accelerated beyond 100mph and don't hear the sound even then

Any time when DPF is being removed, the sound of engine will change dramatically, especially when accelerating hard, it's normal!!! With regards of remap: it needs to be done accordingly, if you go well above bhp limits your gearbox will not cope with a pressure given from engine and will fail eventually. Unfortunately people underestimate the harm of remap: all police BMW 3.0 diesel are remaped with 357bhp, and practise proves: when cars reach 75-80k, 99% out of 100 engines and especially gearboxes fail, bear in mind it's 3.0l diesel - the most reliable engine in bmw diesel engine lines!
In your case it will be mechanical gearbox issue. It needs to be inspected asap!

Yes car does sound different, more like a diesel now

The place had it done is quiet reliable froom what have read and looked into, i've seen places that done a remap with a lot higher bhp gain which stayed clear of and this car has also had a gear box replacement before i bought it i believe, not 100% but pretty sure it had one done
