2006 E90 320d Sidelight (Angel Eyes) Bulb Replacement

Hi,

I have a 2006 E90 with a blown sidelight (Angel Eyes) bulb (Left Hand Side). I have finally found the cover for the bulb wiring which I have unclipped and removed. However, although I can see the wiring on the back of the bulb, I cannot see how to remove the bulb. If I use a mirror to look at the back of the bulb, I can see two small screws at the sides, but these are deeply recessed and would be very difficult to remove in situ.
Is there any easy way to get at this bulb in order to replace it???

OK, Guys. I have now managed to remove the fitting by taking out the wheel arch lining which then gives access to the mounting screws. The bulb inside seems to be fitted into a bayonet mount. It is possible to twist the bulb so that it comes loose in the fitting, but the lugs for the bayonet will not come through the glass surround and the bulb holder seems to have been welded into the back of the glass holder.

Do I really have to buy the whole glass holder assembly, or can I just replace the bulb itself???

Thanks for the really excellent video clip. Unfortunately, the E92 is MUCH simpler to work on than the E90 and the light assembly is completely different.
The E90 has to be accessed from the wheel arch. Once you have removed the bulb holder assembly (two torx screws at the rear), the actual plastic bulbholder seems to be welded into the back of the glass assembly. My problem is that the bulb will come loose if I push/twist the bulb out of its bayonnet, but having done, so, the lugs on the sides of the bulb will not pass through the glass surround, therby making it impossible to remove the bulb.

I therefore need to know whether I can in fact just replace the bulb, or do I need to replace the glass surround as well???

Hi I am in the same position both mine have gone dealer wants £110+VAT per side and parts are half that so I think it is the entire assembly that is replaced (my ETK shows only lighting unit - light rings part 63 11 7 161 444)
no bulb. I am opting for these http://www.hids4u.co.uk/bmw-angel-ey...de-e90-91.html but not sure about the H8 bulb?

did either of you guys ever manage to get the bulb out of the holder?
I'm at exactly the same point on my 2010 E91, and need to replace the bulb, but cant see how it actually removes........
